I love reading children's books to my nephew, especially the ones that have a lot of nice graphics and color. My nephew absolutely love lots of color in their books. As soon as I saw the Terry Treetop Saves The Dolphin eBook, I knew that I had to get it so that I could read it to them.
The book is about Terry who goes camping with his parents to a marine nature reserve and how he loves climbing trees. It teaches children how to be helpful with one another, as well as to be aware of the environment around you and where you keep items placed.
My nephew loved reading this book and looking at the photos, and really enjoyed the zoom feature because it gave him a larger view of his favorite photos. This is by far one of my favorite books to read to him, and he just can't get enough of it. I practically have it memorized because I have been reading to him so many times! It is an excellent book and I highly recommend it!
I just adore Terry. I think he's so cute, with his red hair and freckles and his chubby little face. He's always helping animals. This time he is accidentally part of the trouble when he asks a dolphin to come play with him and the dolphin gets caught in a net on his way over. Terry doesn't abandon the poor little guy though, he does what he always does and he tried to help. He knows he can't do it alone and gets a bigger person, which I think is a great lesson for little kids. I don't know how many times I tell my kids to let a grown up handle it. But anyway, the grown up has a special job that Terry admires and the two bond over their love of animals. I think the book is well written and the illustrations are colorful and eye-catching. They aren't too cluttered. I love the book and I recommend the whole Terry series to anyone with small kids.

I was excited to get a chance to read another Terry Treetop book! My (now 6 years old) son and I enjoyed out first encounter with him a little while ago with the Little Bear, that we couldn't wait to see what was in store for him and the Dolphin.
So Terry the tree climbing boy is back and on vacation near the beach this time. Whilst out exploring he comes across some dolphins playing in the water. He wants to play with the Dolphins and when the baby one see him he ends up getting caught up in a fishing net.
Terry once again saves the day and I love the messages in these series of book about helping others out. My son loved this book and enjoyed reading it out loud, and he loved the illustrations.
Terry Treetop is on another adventure, this time during his summer vacation! He is camping with his parents to a marine nature reserve. He finds the highest tree to climb to discover the lay of the land. He looks into some binoculars and sees a group of dolphins popping out of and splashing back into the water. Terry quickly makes friends with one of the dolphins and as the dolphin is coming closer to him something bad happens but Terry is quick to find help.
I loved reading about this Terry Treetop adventure because I think it will excite many children, and it probably already has! I noticed how Terry's summer vacation turned into a fun adventure just as it was getting started! Not only did he like to play with the dolphins, I noticed how he was so friendly with them also, and was quick to want to make friends with them. There was also a surprise at the end for Terry that seems to show what the rest of his summer vacation will be like!

I really like the idea behind this story. It teaches kids that leaving stuff in the oceans that doesn't belong there could hurt the wildlife. In this quick story a baby dolphin gets stuck in an abandoned net. Terry finds help and takes part in the rescue of the poor little baby dolphin. It is a cute story and they all end up spending a wonderful day together playing around.
The part I found a bit strange is that a young boy was left alone by the ocean without the parents there to look out for him. He had to figure out a way to flag down a ranger on a boat. That is a bit strange because it looks like a very young boy. Also the drawings of the boy make him look like a messy haired boy with large ears and constant rosy cheeks. My niece seemed to like the dolphins more than the main character. Every child is different of course. I guess my niece just did not connect with the character.
I got this for my daughter to read, she is 8 years old and special needs, reading is her weak area. I let her read the story and then I read the story to her so she could better understand what was being said, because there is indeed a very good lesson to be learned from this book.
Terry is a brave young boy who loves climbing trees, and he gets to put his strength to good use when a dolphin is in danger.
I asked my daughter 2 questions when she was done listening to me read the story to her. What did you learn from this story? Her response was, mom we should clean up the environment, then I in turn asked her why? she said so none of the animals get hurt.
Then I followed up with, telling her how brave Terry was, even though he himself was unable to jump right in and save the dolphin, he was so good at climbing trees and could get the rangers attention to help, even though that ranger was so so far away!
She thought this was a very good story and she loved the pictures.
I really think it is an awesome read as well with a very good moral lesson to be learned. As well as teaching children how our actions effect our environment.
